What you eat truly impacts more than your gut health
The food we consume impacts our mental, emotional, skin, and reproductive health! Oh yeah, and I might add energy levels, too…yikes.
Seriously, if you do not believe me, take a moment to read “Eat for Energy” by Ari Whitten, “The Ultramind Solution by Dr. Mark Hyman, or even one of my new favorites - forgive me in advance, it’s school time y’all - “The Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine” by Michael Murray and Joseph Pizzorno.
No matter which book you select, you will gain insight into the fact that there is a direct connection between how our bodies respond to the food we consume.
If you ever struggle with eczema, stomach inflammation, poor energy levels, or even brain fog, know that there is hope to your circumstance, and taking countless amounts of steroids, medications, or some other substance that quote-and-unquote makes life more bearable does not have to be the-end-all-be-all to your situation.
There is truly hope at the end of the tunnel. However, it will require your dedication, intentionality, patience, and willingness to unlearn some things to relearn how to maneuver differently.
Every day, we can choose how we fuel the temples we inhabit or the vehicles that carry us from place to place. But, just like you would not fuel a Porsche with regular unleaded gas, the same goes for how you treat your body.
While selecting the instant meal may be the easiest and “hassle-free” meal. However, over time, by consuming these packaged and processed meals, we can quickly find ourselves hassled by major medical conditions that, when investigated, are clear root causes of unhealthy diets, excess sugar, sedentary lifestyles, and a lack of self-care.
Beloved, now, before you scroll to another post or even leave this page, know that the last thing I want to do is to point a finger at you. My hope is that you realize that your life truly matters. And because you matter, you are worthy of receiving good quality food.
In an effort to dispel any myths that eating healthier and cooking nutrient-dense meals is difficult, I am honored to officially present the first main segment of our Fun & Tasty series! Spoiler alert...if you follow any of my social channels, MWM’s Fun & Tasty is not new to my posting styles. Nevertheless, instead of giving you a few images here and there about food and a random health tip, this series, found on the Moments with Mahalia YouTube Channel, allows you the opportunity to sit down with me to talk about all things health, nutrition, and life while also bringing it together to prepare a simple meal, filled with love, simple concoctions, herbs, and veggies of course!
As you may or may not know, I am a holistic wellness advisor, holistic nutritionist, wellness coach, an enjoyer of good quality food, an avid cook, and an advocate for being well from the inside out, to name a few things. Getting this far has been a journey within itself and, might I add, not planned lol!
After having a breast tumor removed in my early twenties and watching how changes in lifestyle (including food consumption) improved my health and my inner tribe’s health, I started a journey of discovery and healing that eventually brought me to appreciate holistic wellness.
For the series’ official kick-off convo, you get to join me in one of my favorite places in my home - the kitchen :) - for some good conversation, health tips, and insight into how simple food selections can improve your overall health!
Together, we’ll cook some lamb in my trusty dusty slow cooker with sweet potatoes, apples, herbs, and love!
If you live a busy lifestyle or do not like standing over a hot stove for hours to prepare a meal, this video is for you. Forewarning, yes, the video’s time stamp may say 45 mins, but if you need to take a break at any moment, pause the clip, breathe, and come back. You do not want to miss seeing this video til the end.
In this video segment, you will notice that I also take breaks to knock out a few things in the house while the lamb cooks, so you are not alone in figuring out how to integrate tasks into the busyness of life.
You can do this, beloved! So, now that we cracked the ice a bit, are you ready to join the journey with me?
Do not give up if you are tired of feeling tired or tired of bearing countless pills to make it through a portion of your day.
Your health can improve, and you can feel good from the inside out.
BUT, REMEMBER to believe that you can do it - if you’re not there yet, no worries, know that I believe in you!
Now, grab your pen, notebook, plates, utensils, and an open mind. Our online growth journey continues with a new YT Series filled with fun, food, laughter, and joy!
