The fight starts in your mind

To the one who’s in a season of transition, I hope this post shines some light on your situation and serves as a little fuel to keep you going.

Today's Declaration: My life isn't over; it's just transforming.

Even though the cloud of uncertainty that’s hanging up ahead may look dark, heavy, and predictable, no matter how long it lingers, you cannot give fear permission to hinder your progress. You see, while you may notice the cloud in the sky, you cannot predict what will come next. Some clouds bring rain while others only carry the appearance of rain. Therefore, while your life looks shattered because someone broke your heart or you just lost your job, every time a door closes, another one is bound to open. However, when you allow yourself to operate in defeat, you’ll lose strength and the necessary fortitude to keep moving forward.

Yes, TRUST ME. I can relate to understanding that the pain of rejection, loss, neglect, and unexpected change is perplexing. Yet, my dear friend, it may be necessary to position you towards purpose, build your character, and ironically, serve as the catalyst to shift your life for the better. Often when we’re comfortable and content, we avoid seeking opportunities that challenge us.

Therefore, it’s in the critical moments of discomfort where transformation can take place.

You know, I remember a point in time where I found myself sleeping in my friend's car because of a few missteps I made, which resulted in me not having a place to live. Many days I cried and wondered how something like this could happen to the sweet “girl next door.” While operating in this unknown, I had opportunities to throw in the towel, but fighting my way through the struggle was necessary for building my character in more ways than I can even express. However, while I’m able to say this now, the transformation that took place in my life would have never existed if I never mustered enough courage to fight.

I guess, at some point or another, before this moment, you heard cliches or mantras that reminded you to fuel the fighter that’s within you. While this is true, it’s easier said than done when you’re in the beginning stages of your transition. So if you’re struggling with tying your boxing gloves to give the journey that’s staring you in the eyes a few jabs and an uppercut, I have a secret to share that may help you awaken your inner champion.

Are you ready?

Okay.

"Win the fight in your mind FIRST."

If you can see yourself winning - don't forget to believe it - the fight in your mind, you’ll seek the necessary resources, network, and connections to show you the right combinations to survive every round. There’s power in a focused and determined mind. So try not to worry yourself so much about winning your fight with a simple knockout. Instead, focus on developing the right combinations, footwork, and precision so that you’ll build the endurance and cultivate the right strategy to conquer any fight that comes your way.

So again, while things seem off course from your initial plans, use this time as an opportunity to cultivate the mental tenacity to keep moving no matter what! Why? Because there’s power in a made-up mind!

You got it. I have faith in you!
